Developing Sustainable Resilient Infrastructure in the Blue Pacific Conference and Trade Expo
REGISTRATION FOR THE PACIFIC INFRASTRUCTURE CONFERENCE IS NOW CLOSED.
If you have any questions please utilise the Contact Form below, including your query and your contact details, and we will reply to you as soon as we are able.
The objectives of the conference are to:
- assist Pacific Islands Countries decision makers achieve long term value for money in the awarding of contracts for the development of sustainable resilient infrastructure;
- provide an opportunity for each country to detail its pipeline of infrastructure projects to an audience of donors and private sector participants from all Pacific Islands countries and donor countries;
- and bring together the private sectors of Australia, New Zealand, United States of America, Japan, France and other donor countries and the Pacific Islands Forum countries to facilitate connections to form joint ventures and employment of local contractors in the delivery of sustainable resilient infrastructure projects.
The speaker program includes representatives from major bilateral donor countries, multilateral donors, presentations by all Pacific islands countries on their infrastructure pipeline, examples of successful women in Pacific construction, the importance of ensuring proper procurement and construction standards, presentations by Pacific private sector peak bodies on each country’s workforce capabilities, and case studies by consultants and contractors on infrastructure projects undertaken in each country.
There is an extensive pipeline of donor-funded infrastructure projects planned in the Pacific islands countries over the short to medium term including the AUD4bn Australia Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP).
In the current climate of financial stringency combined with the urgency of delivering infrastructure which is sustainable and climate resilient it is critical that projects are delivered to the highest standards to help protect the wellbeing of the Pacific islands countries all of which are currently challenged by the need for climate change adaptation.
There will be an accompanying trade expo, sponsored by the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) and Trade & Investment Queensland (TIQ), of at least 50 booths which will include business and Chambers of Commerce and Industry representatives from the Pacific island countries and from donor countries. You can join the trade expo by booking a trade booth.
This conference is arranged by the Australia Pacific Islands Business Council in collaboration with the Australia Fiji Business Council and the Australia Papua New Guinea Business Council. It is supported by the Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP) in the Australian Office of the Pacific and a range of other government and corporate sponsors.
